What the place asks for
The imagined site sits where a school boundary meets the neighbourhood. At certain times it becomes a waiting room; at others it is simply an open piece of public ground.
The study asks how that changeable edge could support several kinds of use without feeling like leftover space or a single-purpose playground.

Low, broad seating terraces sit among existing trees. Their arrangement leaves a clear route across the square and creates places to sit alone, side by side or in a small group.
Light shade frames and a ceramic threshold give the place a recognisable edge. The design does not prescribe a programme for every hour; it offers a set of useful conditions.

Routes must remain clear when people gather. Seating height, changes in level and sightlines would need careful checking with the people who use and manage the boundary.
The material idea favours readable joints and individual parts that could be maintained or replaced. That intention would need to be carried into the detailed design.

Observe the site’s busy and quiet periods, establish boundary responsibilities and review access and safeguarding needs with the relevant stakeholders. Test a temporary arrangement before committing to permanent seating.
